Gutenberg Chair for Stephen Dobson

03 April 2019

In December 2018, USIAS Fellow Stephen Dobson was awarded a Gutenberg Chair. Each year, a select number Gutenberg Chairs are awarded to eminent academics from outside of Strasbourg. The Gutenberg Chairs participate in enhancing the attractiveness and scientific excellence of research in the Alsace region. All disciplines are eligible. The Chair comes with a research grant of 60,000 €. In addition to research, the Chair holder participates in educational activities by giving specialised lectures and talks for a wider audience.

The awards were instituted in 2007 by the Cercle Gutenberg, a group of eminent academics in the region who are active members of the Institute of France, the Collège de France, the Institut Universitaire de France and major French and foreign national academies. The programme is supported by the Great East Region of France and the Eurometropole Strasbourg.
