Annual Symposium USIAS 2024
The USIAS Annual Symposium was held on 21 November 2024. USIAS director, Professor Thomas Ebbesen, first presented the 16 new Fellows selected in 2024 before asking the keynote speaker Jacques Marescaux, an eminent surgeon and pioneer in telesurgery, to take the floor.
In his captivating lecture, Professor Marescaux invited the audience to discover the world of the past, present and future of surgery. He explained how new technologies and artificial intelligence are revolutionizing all phases of health care around operations: before (early diagnosis, operation planning using digital patient clones), during (minimally invasive surgery, telesurgery) and after (patient monitoring, complication detection and prevention).
The symposium was followed by a reception for the new Fellows.
