LELOIR Award and honorary doctorates for Clément Sanchez
On 16 March 2023, Clément Sanchez, who holds a Chair at USIAS, received the 2022 LELOIR Award in the natural sciences, granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation of Argentina (MINCYT).
This important award honours foreign scientists who have worked to strengthen the scientific and technological capacities of Argentina. The award was presented to Professor Sanchez and the laureates in the three other domains at a ceremony at the Centro Cultural de la Ciencia (C3), in the presence of the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Daniel Filmus, and the Ministry's National Director of Science Policy Promotion, Karina Pombo.
On 20 March 2023, Clément Sanchez was awarded an honorary doctorate degree from the National University of General San Martín (UNSAM) in Argentina for his achievements as a global leader in the field of materials chemistry, to which he has contributed with more than 600 publications in scientific journals, and over 70 patents.
Through his involvement in teaching, joint projects, personnel training and consultancy, Professor Sanchez has managed to weave a high-impact network of international and intergenerational collaboration, which has been very important for the academic community in Argentina.
In December 2022 Clément Sanchez was also awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Aveiro, Portugal.
