LELOIR Prize and honorary doctorates for Clément Sánchez
On Thursday 16 March 2022, Clément Sánchez, who holds a Chair at USIAS, received the LELOIR Award 2022 in the natural sciences, granted by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCYT) of Argentina. This important award recognizes foreign scientists who have worked to strengthen the scientific and technological capacities of Argentina. The award was presented to Professor Sánchez and the laureates in other domains at a ceremony at the Centro Cultural de la Ciencia (C3), in the presence of the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Daniel Filmus and the National Director of Science Policy Promotion of the Ministry, Karina Pombo.
On Monday 20 March 2023, Clement Sánchez will be awarded an honorary doctorate degree from the National University of General San Martín (UNSAM) in Argentina for his achievements as a global leader in the field of materials chemistry, to which he contributed with more than 600 publications in scientific journals and more than 70 patents.
Through his participation in teaching, joint projects, training of human resources and permanent advice, Sanchez managed to weave a network of international and intergenerational collaboration of high impact, which has been very important for the academic community in Argentina.
In December 2022 Clement Sanchez was also awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Aveiro, Portugal.
