Pascal Mayer appointed as USIAS honorary chair

Pascal Mayer, founding director of the company Alphanosos, has been appointed Honorary Chair of the Institute for Advanced Study of the University of Strasbourg (USIAS). 

A biophysicist by training, with his PhD degree from the University of Strasbourg, Pascal Mayer was awarded the prestigious Breakthrough Prize for Life Sciences in 2022 for the development of a reliable, rapid and affordable DNA sequencing technique that has revolutionised biology and medicine. With his company Alphanosos, he now aspires to create eco-friendly alternatives to pharmaceutical drugs. 

The honorary chair at USIAS recognises outstanding scientific achievements outside the traditional academic world and encourages exchanges between researchers on campus and scientific actors from elsewhere.
