New book: Out-of-Equilibrium (Supra)molecular Systems and Materials

22 April 2021

Nicolas Giuseppone and Andreas Walther, joint 2017 Fellows of the University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study (USIAS) and the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies (FRIAS), are the editors of a new book “Out-of-Equilibrium (Supra)molecular Systems and Materials” (John Wiley and Sons, 2021). It follows directly from the work done during their Fellowship and covers a wide range of topics, including self-assembling molecules, molecular machines, complex chemical behaviour and the origin of life.

The publication presents a comprehensive overview of the synthetic approaches that use supramolecular bonds in various out-of-thermodynamic equilibrium situations. Of interest to chemists, physical chemists, biochemists and material scientists, the book brings together contributions from noted experts on the topic with information on the design of dissipative self-assemblies that maintain their structures when fuelled by an external source of energy.
