Joanna Wencel-Delord
Joanna Wencel-Delord was born in Poland. In 2002, she moved to France to integrate ChemISt (Chemistry International Study) foundation courses at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Rennes (ENSCR, France). In 2007, she obtained an Engineering Degree from the ENSCR and a research master degree from the University of Rennes 1, France. In 2010, she received her PhD under the supervision of Dr. Christophe Crévisy and Dr. Marc Mauduit (UMR 6226) at the University of Rennes 1. Her PhD work concerned design and evaluation of original chiral ligands for asymmetric transition metal-catalyzed C-C couplings. During a post-doctoral stay in the group of Prof. Frank Glorius at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (Germany), she worked on transition metal-catalyzed C-H activation and she developed original rhodium-catalyzed dehydrogenative arylation and halogenation reactions. In 2012 she joined the group of Prof. Philippe Compain as a temporary assistant professor (ATER) at the University of Strasbourg. Since 2013, she is an associate researcher at CNRS (Centre Nationale de la Recherche Scientifique) in the group of Prof. Françoise Colobert (SynCat, UMR 7509, University of Strasbourg, France). Her current research concerns transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric C-H activation and in particular, application of the atropo-diastereoselective approach to construct axially chiral biaryls.
As part of her fellowship, Joanna Wencel-Delord is working on Dual catalysis merging visible-light photocatalysis and C-H activation: new strategy towards all-carbon quaternary stereogenic centres.
