Gianluca Pacienza
Gianluca Pacienza, born 1974, is lecturer in Strasbourg since 2003. He is interested in complex algebraic geometry, that is the study of the geometry of complex solutions of polynomial equations. Pacienza began to study mathematics at the Università di Roma Tre, before coming to France, where he obtained his Ph.D. in 2001 from the Université de Paris 6. After a post-doc at the Ohio State University and at the Università di Roma La Sapienza he started to work at the Institut de Recherche Mathématique Avancée in Strasbourg, where he obtained his "Habilitation à diriger des recherche" in 2009.
He was invited to deliver lectures on his scientific work in Brasil, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Roumania, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, U.S.A. He is the head of the A.N.R. Project "Classification theories and birational geometry of algebraic varieties and their linear series", and adjoint coordinator of the French-Italian Research Group in Algebraic Geometry, co-funded by CNRS and INdAM.
As part of his Fellowship, Gianluca Pacienza is working on the project Rational Points, Rational Curves and Automorphisms of Special Varieties, together with his collaborators Carlo Gasbarri et Stefan Kebekus.
