Sarah de Rijcke

Sarah de RijckeSarah de Rijcke is Assistant Professor at the Centre for Science and Technology Studies (CWTS), Leiden University. Sarah works on the interplay between knowledge production and research governance, accountability, and performance measurement. She heads one of the five working groups at CWTS, Evaluation Practices in Context (EPIC). Originally trained as a psychologist, Dr De Rijcke has an interdisciplinary background, ranging from Science and Technology Studies (STS), the sociology and anthropology of science, and media studies. She is well versed in historical and ethnographic research methods.

Dr. De Rijcke works on a number of projects on interactions between forms of research assessment (international, institutional, local, informal) and the scholarly work of knowledge creation. She is the project leader of The Impact of Indicators. How evaluation shapes biomedical knowledge production.a joint project of the CWTS with colleagues from iBMG (Erasmus University, Rotterdam) and from the Free University in Amsterdam.
