Dr. Mariano Giménez is Professor of Surgery and “Taquini” Chair of General and Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Buenos Aires, and Director of the DAICIM Foundation in Argentina, dedicated to Teaching, Treatment and Research into Interventional Radiology and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
He is furthermore Scientific Director of Percutaneous Surgery at IHU-IRCAD at the University of Strasbourg, France and Chair of Percutaneous Surgery at its Institute for Advanced Study (USIAS). His practice is focused in Percutaneous Image Guided Surgery and Minimally Invasive Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery. He was formerly President of the Iberian – American Society of Interventionism (SIDI).
Dr. Giménez completed his PhD in 1996 at the University of Buenos Aires. He has directed over 160 scientific events, given more than 1 000 lectures and run surgery activities for post graduate participants in 31 countries. He has published 10 books on Surgery and written over 85 book chapters.
On a more personal note, through his position as Co-Chairman of the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association (AHPBA) Committee on International Relations Dr. Giménez has, in recent years, carried out humanitarian surgical missions in Kurdistan, Guatemala, Honduras, Bolivia (Bolivian Amazons and another in Potosi) and Peru.
