Georges Kleiber

Georges Kleiber is emeritus professor of general linguistics at the University of Strasbourg, where he was in charge of the unit for linguistics, language, speech (LILPA - LInguistique, Langue, Parole) up until 2007. His research activities specifically focus on lexical, sentential and pragmatic semantics.
He sits on the editorial boards of several French and foreign language journals, and continues to work regularly with a number of foreign universities, amongst which Porto, Tel Aviv, Brussels, Bucharest and Barcelona. He has published over 400 articles and eleven books, including La sémantique du prototype (Presses universitaires de France, 1990) that has been translated into several languages, and L’anaphore associative (Presses universitaires de France, 2001).
Georges Kleiber has received numerous scientific awards and honours, including the Silver Medal of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in 1998 and Commander of the French Order of Academic Palms in 2015. He has furthermore been awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa by the universities of Uppsala (Sweden), Aarhus (Denmark), Constanta (Romania) and Chisinau (Moldova). He was elected member of the Belgian Royal Academy of French Language and Literature in 2015, and is an honorary member of the Italian Società Universitaria par gli Studi di Lingua e Letteratura Francese.
