Louis de Saussure

Louis de Saussure is Professor of Linguistics and Discourse Analysis and head of the Department of Language and Communication at the University of Neuchâtel, Switzerland. He has been invited lecturer at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS, Paris) and at the University of Lugano (Switzerland), lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin, visiting scholar at the University College London and at the French CNRS in Nancy, and invited professor at the Universities of Geneva and Fribourg.

His research focuses on semantics, pragmatics, cognitive science and discourse analysis. His publications include a monograph on tense and aspect in French, which was awarded by the Latsis Prize of the University of Geneva (2003). Professor De Saussure is co-founder and co-director of the Center for Cognitive Science at the University of Neuchatel. He is Vice-President of the Swiss Society of Linguistics and member of the Committee of the Rencontres Internationales de Genève.
