CNRS Gold Medal 2019 awarded to Thomas Ebbesen, USIAS director

Thomas Ebbesen, director of USIAS, has been awarded the CNRS Gold Medal 2019, one of the most prestigious French scientific awards. His work in nanoscience, which is highly interdisciplinary, covers fields as diverse as the sciences of carbon materials, optics, nano-photonics and molecular chemistry.

The Gold Medal is the highest prize of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), and will be presented to Professor Ebbesen on 24 October 2019, in Paris, on the occasion of a special ceremony that celebrates 80 years of the CNRS. Since 1954, this annual award is given in recognition of a remarkable contribution to French research.
