With an introduction by Professor Pierre Chambon, IGBMC, USIAS Chair of Molecular Genetics and Biology.

Entering the golden age of Drosophila for understanding and treating human diseases

Drosophila is a widely used model organism for studies in genetics, cell biology, development, neurobiology, immunity and physiology. In this lecture, Professor Perrimon will provide examples of how fly models of human diseases can be used to gain novel insights on the basis of diseases and to develop new therapeutics. Diseases to be discussed include cancer, cachexia and Cystic Fibrosis.

Norbert Perrimon is the James Stillman Professor of Developmental Biology at Harvard Medical School. He is visiting Strasbourg as part of the USIAS short visit program.
