Rifka Weehuizen

Managing Director

Rifka WeehuizenRifka Weehuizen is managing director of the University of Strasbourg Institute for Advanced Study (USIAS) since July 2012. She has an MA in History (University of Groningen) and a PhD in Economics (University of Maastricht). Her thesis on 'mental capital' explored how to conceptualise and model psychological dimensions of economic growth.

Dr. Weehuizen has been project manager at the Centre for Technology Trends (STT) in The Hague (1998-2000) and researcher at the Maastricht Economic Research Institute on Innovation and Technology (UNU-MERIT) of the United Nations University (UNU) (2000-2009; associated researcher 2010-present). She was detached as scientific staff member (2006-2007) and senior scientific staff member (2008-2009) to the Netherlands Advisory Council for Science and Technology Policy (AWT) in The Hague. From 2010-2012 she was senior science officer at the European Science Foundation (ESF) in Strasbourg.
